Texas Rattlesnake Burger Recipe
Texas Rattlesnake Smash Burger JalapeƱo Onion Triple Smash Burger on Texas Toast
Cooked on Steel Makes 5 burgers, about 9 ounces each.
Ingredients:
3 lbs Ground Beef
10 Slices Texas Toast (Thick Sliced) Style Bread
1 Red Onion, Thinly Sliced
2 Jalapenos, Thinly Sliced
10 Slices Pepper Jack Cheese
5 Slices Colby Jack Cheese
Fried Jalapenos (For Topping)
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
Butter for Buttering Bread
Burger Spice Mix 2 Teaspoons Salt
2 Teaspoons Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
Instructions:
1. Combine the spice mix ingredients in a bowl.
2. Mix the 3 pounds of ground beef with the spice mix and the Worcestershire Sauce, and mix to evenly combine.
3. Heat your grill with Cooking Steel over high heat (500 degrees).
4. Combine the sliced onion and sliced jalapenos in a bowl. Then divide into 5 equal portions.
5. Form the meat into 15 equal sized balls (about 3 ounces each).
6. Brush both sides of the Texas toast bread slices with some butter and brown on the Cooking Steel, about 30-60 seconds per side. Remove and set aside.
7. Working in batches, cook the burgers. For each burger you will need 1 portion of onion/jalapeno mix, 3 burger balls, 2 slices of pepper jack cheese, and 1 slice of Colby Jack cheese. Note: it is best to have everything ready, because things move fast once the cooking starts.
8. Place the onion portion on the grill and cook for about 30 seconds, then flip the onions over.
9. Place the burger balls on the Cooking Steel, spaced apart, and smash them down as flat as you can with a heavy spatula. Cook for about 2 minutes.
10. Flip two of the burger patties over and top with the pepper jack cheese. Flip the remaining patty over onto the onions and top with the Colby jack cheese. Cook for about another 1-2 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
11. Place the 3 burger patties on top of a slice of the grilled Texas toast, top with a few fried jalapenos, any other desired burger toppings, then top with the remaining slice of Texas toast.
